The Team Relay is the final major points opportunity of the Nationals and is expected to play a decisive role in determining the Team Championship standings.
The relay has been specifically designed to maximise:
Rider safety
Predictable transitions
Fair competition
Spectator visibility
Strategic team racing
Relay Format
Teams may nominate up to 6 relay riders
Total race distance: 6 laps
Riders may complete either 1 or 2 laps during the relay
No rider may complete more than 2 laps total
No rider may complete consecutive laps
This format allows teams flexibility in strategy while ensuring balanced rider participation and safe transition pacing.
Teams may choose to:
Use 6 separate riders completing 1 lap each
ORUse fewer riders, with selected riders completing a second non-consecutive lap

Relay Grid Zones
Each team will be assigned a dedicated relay grid zone adjacent to the circuit.
Grid zones are designed to:
Separate teams safely
Control rider movement
Reduce transition collisions
Provide clear rider staging areas
Only active relay riders and waiting team members are permitted inside their allocated zone.
Rider Transition Procedure
To complete a legal rider handover:
The incoming rider must safely enter the relay lane
The incoming rider must come to a COMPLETE STOP inside their allocated team grid zone
The outgoing rider may only depart once:
The incoming rider is fully stationary
The incoming rider and PEV are fully contained within the designated zone
No physical pushing, towing, or high-speed tagging exchanges are permitted.
The relay format intentionally prioritises controlled transitions over aggressive handovers.
Non-Racing Team Members
Team members waiting for their lap must:
Remain inside their allocated relay grid zone
Keep all PEVs stationary until released
Avoid obstructing the relay lane
Follow marshal directions at all times
Practice launches, warming tyres, weaving, or moving through adjacent team zones will not be permitted.
Any unsafe behaviour within the relay area may result in penalties.
Relay Lane Safety Controls
The relay lane is considered a controlled-speed area.
Incoming riders must:
Enter the relay lane in a controlled manner
Maintain safe braking distances
Avoid aggressive overtaking within the relay lane
Remain aware of surrounding riders and marshals
The following behaviours are prohibited:
Drifting into relay zones
Uncontrolled braking
Contact with riders or equipment
Entering incorrect team zones
Unsafe merges back onto circuit
Event officials reserve the right to remove riders from the relay if unsafe conduct is observed.
Relay Penalties
To ensure fairness and safety, penalties may be applied for relay infractions.
Penalties Include
